My first peer-reviewed paper is out from my MSc work on serpentinization and open access! This project was so much fun, went to some beautiful places, and I met and worked with so many great people! @JamieCutts_Geo@ConnorTurvey@carbmin@UBCeoas

After ten years of successfully applying Carbfix, we are set to significantly scale up operations.🚀
Our solution can not only be applied in Iceland but anywhere where there is access to water and suitable rock formations.

There were at least 3 serpentinization stages and 2 carbonate alteration stages that occurred in these ultramafic rocks - and brucite and awaruite (and other minerals) formed at different times! Check out this schematic -> (5/5)

Another mineral is awaruite - that is economically attractive for #nickel mining. @FPX_Nickel has done a lot of work on this mineral! When found with brucite, the mine tailings can sequester carbon, possibly making the mine carbon neutral! (4/5)
Last week I had the opportunity to present on @Carbfix and lead project work at a short course in El Salvador on the future of geothermal energy utilization in Latin America.
So great to meet the other participants, learn about geothermal energy development and discuss!
Using this excuse to post a pic of some beautiful #lizardite mesh texture (light grey texture in the middle) from a serpentinite in British Columbia that I'm currently working on😍
If climate change keeps you up at night, and you don’t know how to make a difference, here is a list of actions that will be more impactful than you might expect. A long but essential thread.

It was always said that if climate change got bad enough that it was showing up frequently in extreme weather, we'd be in a bad place. Folks, we're in the bad place.
We are taking direct air capture and mineral storage to the next level with @Climeworks and ON power!🌏
Mammoth, the new DAC plant at Hellisheiði, Iceland, will bring a tenfold increase to the current CO2 capture and storage capacity at the site. https://t.co/JHPQriC0ZM
