@AshleyJudd@afspnational@sxsw Please support the voluntary do not sell legislation in Tennessee. This gun suicide prevention bill could’ve prevented our mothers’ suicides. The AFSP has endorsed in Tennessee and nationally as it has been adopted in several states already. https://t.co/o2tqgeUW3D
Over 5,000 Americans have already died by gun suicide in 2023.
I introduced legislation to allow people to voluntarily suspend their right to purchase a gun.
It’s bipartisan, constitutional, and will undoubtedly save lives. Let’s pass it.

@andyjamesdalton Your numbers on how many many mass shootings happened in 2022 are waaay off. Please correct. There were over 600 mass shootings, not 42. 42 would’ve made it the best year, not the worst year. Also, your numbers for how many mass shootings this month are way off.
@NOPDChief please change the procedure that incinerates suicide notes. My family was never able to see my mom’s suicide note and this is true for too many families. It is so devastating to know the NOPD simply burned it up.
"The moment my mom left, her boyfriend knew something was off. He called the police over and over begging for help, but there was nothing they could do." https://t.co/aT394sX7GW

You are not alone. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay2022
Nearly 24,000 people die by gun suicide in America every year.
That's why @RepJohnCurtis and I introduced bipartisan legislation to solve this public health crisis. On #WorldSuicidePreventionDay we are steadfast in our commitment to save lives.
We are losing thousands of people every year to gun suicide.
We can and must solve this public health crisis which has taken so many lives and devastated so many communities.
Utah has a successful law on the books to allow individuals to voluntarily and temporarily surrender firearms during difficult times, and I believe this same program could help those in other states as well.
Join us! I’ll be talking about voluntary self-prohibition — what it is, how it works, what we know about it, what we don’t yet know, how clinicians can play a role in states where it exists, and how my lived experience has influenced my advocacy for this tool. #SuicidePrevention
