@tuktuksputnik If she or a family member knew the gravity and consequences of “breaking” one’s neck, they would have gone to a tertiary care hospital or specialist. They went to their family doctor who had been treating them for minor issues for decades, and the injury was missed.

@tuktuksputnik The point to note is being educated about the consequences of an injury to the neck-in this case, she told me just before I anaesthetised her for surgery - Dr. I thought I broke my neck මගේ බෙල්ල කැඩුනා (in her own words). But her injury was not taken seriously as she walked.

@tuktuksputnik Going to a reputed specialist in the private sector is an option too, however, I said variable as there are instances when surgery and immobilisation has got delayed in the government sector due to lack of resources ( staff/equipment/operation theatre time)
