Truckee Meadows firefighters push through heavy smoke and active flames, laying hose and defending structures along streets like Chippewa Ave as the human-caused blaze races through dry brush and timber northwest of the city.
These crews (and mutual-aid partners) have been working nonstop since the fire ignited Aug. 22, protecting lives and homes while containment climbed dramatically. Huge respect for the men and women on the ground.
