Good Tuesday Morning! I have awaken to the most beautiful aroma of coffee, so beautiful in fact pop pop told me “Lizzy you just go on and order enough of that hand roasted HoffenSniffer for the winter ‘cause I don’t want big box store coffee no more…” And, so I did; 20lb sack. So rich, and smooth!

This is what my family will be receiving for Christmas this year. I’ve not had anything like it since I was in Sweden or Denmark maybe, Austria, idk…. But that 20lb sack of beans is going in vac sealed half gallon mason jars and will live in my closet with the jars of Palouse Family Legumes and the Lundberg (REAL) Rice.

Beans, Rice, Coffee to be honest should not be bought at some local mercantile if one can help it.

Coffee is one of those things I’m watching go up with the economy, it is now time to stockpile this. And, FTR my old CuisinArt grinder pulsed these beans up perfectly; to a perfect percolator blend. I wish you all could see the rich coffee oils floating on my cuppa, and that 5🌟 review was on par, “makes me WANT to go out and milk the cows…”!

If I was going to equate @derhoffcoffee Der Hoffskeller to something else I got here on X it would be the complex KRS hot sauce from @Half_A_Pond or the 🍁 wooden clothes pins from @FrabjusLady or @BuffaloRon amazing bison wool socks or @Mathew_Winters1 insanely flavorful garlic or our hand thrown mugs from @OldHollowTree…. This here coffee is special…

I found them by googling “small batch American roasted coffee” then their ad on X started showing up. Fascinating family farm story, and I love Wisconsin. If you cook in cast iron you will understand their story, it’s absolutely true and pertains to far more than coffee bean roasting. The flavor with cast iron is irreplaceable, on some culinary experiences…

Also, by bulk buying their sack of beans I just saved us probably $500 over this winter (vs store bought or big box box coffee which tastes stale in comparison). This 20lb sack was $230 we shall see how good it looks when it arrives… Hopefully it will be the same rich fresh bean as this 2lb sack.

Idk what he’s doing, he left for the pit, then stopped, backed back up here, raised the hood, opened all the truck doors, pulled up, backed up, now he’s walking about in the courtyard… he’s maybe a tad off this morning 😵‍💫. Hope he didn’t have a cat in the truck fan. It’s “chilly” outside and we are approaching the season of engine compartment “cat processing”. Please raise your vehicle hoods and check for young cats each morning; it only takes 30seconds before starting the engine. It is terrible to shred a cat that was in the compartment.

Pop Pop slept on the sofa last night, I tried to get him up at midnight and he said “no he’d come to bed when the baby got down”. Well Diggy looked like a possum between his knees, upside down with mouth half open, and I guess it was 04:30 before she decided to get up. He said by that time it was too late to get in bed, so he made the coffee, and enjoyed his instagram out on the porch on the cool.

I slept like an angel… He looks like he did not! I will feed him well today, he can go load his trucks and take naps while I work on the first batch of Rotel. Those Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches are not quite garbage but they are in the garbage food bracket. Supper was also Tostitos with my salsa so that was lacking too. It’s about time for a big deer beefy pot of vegetable soup with Lundberg Red Jasmine Rice.

I sound like a product marketing dept this morning but I think it is important to share small company’s specialty items you find to be excellent. This is the way back from big box and back to the farm or mill.

Well I’m about out of room here, time to enjoy the rest of my coffee in some quiet.

I hope everyone has a blessed Tuesday and enjoys the start of our Fall season, (even if it is still hot and ridiculously dry in parts of this country)!
