This eating out discourse is interesting to me. My dad legitimately went out to breakfast and lunch on his work days, like clockwork. Same 2 places every time. Frankly, when Covid shut everything down, he had a very hard time adjusting. He didn't last the year.
That doesn't even include the fun things like finding a $100 bill on the sidewalk at 5am, and winning a sales contest for a computer after selling the bare minimum subscriptions to qualify. (That forever scarred me from cold calling)
My kids asked me about my first job. I got to share with them stories of delivering newspapers starting at 11. From walking all the way down the hill balancing up to 130 folded papers in a double-sided bag around my neck, to getting pooped on, right square in the head by a hawk.
I love shopping for my own groceries. But when the timeline doesn't work in my favor, this service pays the in-store associates. Not some Doordash random. Delivery is a whole different ballgame. But most instore pickup orders are shopped by store workers.
I’m ready to get canceled for it but if you’re physically able to do so I think you should just buy your own god damn groceries. You don’t need a grocery sherpa. It’s your food. Make the time to get your own food. Be a grown up. For eons people got their own groceries. Just do it
This is so exhausting. Like it happens here and there with prior launches but due to how Pokopia has gone crazy viral, it's happening in such volume.
With 200 hours work behind me on it, seeing my work just lifted and, in the case of the app, being used to make money...it hurts.
@UrbanCourtyard@theboudoirmadam Nah. As a parent, I don't agree with you at all. Traveling and not having meals planned, for anyone watching my kids, seems like dereliction of duty, frankly. Delivery or otherwise.
I keep our thermostat around 60. Try to seal the windows I can. Heater is an admitted dinosaur. This small 1890s house is running a gas/electric bill over $400 a month. I can't imagine what others are paying.
@tomandmartys Picked up a 10lb bag of fresh from Maines and fried them up yesterday. Can confirm the sizes of those suckers almost seem mutant these days. I think it was just over 3 dozen. But at less than $2/lb, I can't really complain.
