JICA and NCDA Make Joint Field Visit to Rutsiro Nutrition Activities:
On April 23rd 2026, together with Mrs. Assumpta Ingabire, the Director General of @Rwanda_Child and Mrs. Dative Kayitesi, the Mayor of Rutsiro District and the JICA Rwanda team led by Dr. Haruyo Nakamura,  JICA Nutrition Policy Advisor, visited Congo Nile Health Center in the framework of JICA’s nutrition intervention. They interacted with mothers to assess the impact of using the fish powder, for those involved in the case study that includes lactating and pregnant mothers and children under five. Their testimonies underscored improved child wellbeing and stunting prevention through increased consumption of locally available animal-source foods.

Thereafter, they toured Triumvirate Food Ltd, a nearby fish powder factory with a drying capacity of 300 kg every two hours and a grinding capacity of 2 tons per day. The owner was encouraged to explore existing agri-loan products tailored to SMEs and processing units, and to strengthen market access by targeting niche urban segments through digital platforms to build a self-resilient business rather than depending on sporadic demand. Guests appreciated the ongoing study led by Dr. Nakamura and look forward to the final results as there is a possibility scale up the consumption of fish powder to other districts. @iassumpta , @dative_kayitesi , @RutsiroDistrict , @RwandaWest #nutrition
