i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
where does it hurt?
it answered
everywhere
everywhere
everywhere.

“Taking the Lord’s name in vain” isn’t about saying “oh my god” when you’re frustrated.
It’s about using the name of Jesus to justify oppression, marginalization and violence.
It’s about calling yourself a Christian without doing the work of Christ—justice, liberation and love.
@cmeadows37 Glad I saw this I was planning on getting another booster this weekend. I’ve seen cases going up locally and I realized mine is out of date. I’ll wait a little while for the new one!
I can’t imagine Jesus putting razor blades in the water to harm immigrants.
Or advocating for economic policies that favor the rich and harm the poor.
Or doing nothing substantive to end gun violence.
It’s heartbreaking that many can imagine Jesus doing these things.
"I love America more than any other country in the world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually."
