In some places, #cooperatives are being developed to exploit renewable sources of energy which ensure local self-sufficiency. They can make a real difference in the fight against climate change, thanks to a strong sense of community and a deep love for the land.
One of my hearings today is focused on the upcoming #2020Census. Some reminders:
1) Look for a mailer by April 1st
2) Complete it online, on paper or by phone
3) NO citizenship question
4) Not getting counted costs our community resources
5) You matter so #GetCounted
I have visited nations ravaged by civil war. @realDonaldTrump I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant.
Literally no logical reason to hold up foreign aid funds. It is less than 1% of the federal budget, just a drop in the bucket, and does so much good for people all over the world and our national security https://t.co/FLY1ctSKaH
90-year-old nun = Sr. Pat Murphy. I met her when I was a student at @SaintXavier. We prayed a rosary at a detention center, my first time praying a rosary. She inspired me to be an active Catholic. I credit her & other @SistersofMercy for where I am now in life. #feminism
Capitol Police arrest 70 people in the Capitol Rotunda, including a 90-year-old nun, as demonstrators gathered to protest the administration’s immigration policies. https://t.co/nU627GTt1P
Happy Valentine's Day! Love thy neighbor. Stand in solidarity and fight for the rights of:
Immigrants
Refugees
Homeless people
Hungry people
People in war and conflict
Single parents
Women who have to deal with sexist pigs
And all who are poor, vulnerable, and oppressed.

Today, @RepTedDeutch and I introduced legislation to make sure immigrants held in detention centers are given information about their legal rights. https://t.co/arL4BXC1EK
"The agreement represents rare hope for the impoverished, landlocked nation where religious and communal fighting has been ongoing since 2013. Thousands of people have been killed and hundreds of thousands displaced."
Remember my mother. Today. Always.
There would be no #MLKDay without #CorettaScottKing.
Architect of the King legacy. Exemplary leader. Founder of @TheKingCenter less than 3 months after my father was assassinated.
And she taught #MLK about the global peace movement.
#MLK90
Many who quote him now would have hated him then. He was assassinated for trying to eradicate the evils some claim he’d support today. But he was a Christ-centered, love-fueled, justice-seeking, peacemaking, globally-minded, nonviolent revolutionary & prophet. #MLK90#MLKDay#MLK
Imagine if we reappropriated a fraction of these funds to fighting climate change, investing in peace building initiatives, and increasing our foreign aid budget (which is consistently below 1% of our national budget). Imagine that world. https://t.co/bkk5LJjbCU
We joined together with the @USCCB & @CCharitiesUSA to urge all people of goodwill to speak and act with compassion towards those #migrating from #CentralAmerica and seeking refuge from violence and poverty.

“All the big countries say they are fighting each other in Yemen,” Mr. Hajaji said. “But it feels to us like they are fighting the poor people." https://t.co/Mk7n229sId
