@AldiUK - Have you changed the recipe (or supplier) of your village bakery malted bread? The last few i've had have been dry and made from potentially overworked dough. It also doesn't stay fresh for as long as it used to.... Something just isn't the same!
On this week’s episode of AvTalk, we chat with Steven Fox of @NATS on what it takes to prepare for the increase in traffic during the busy summer season. Find AvTalk on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts.
An elephant-sized pacifier for one of our tiniest babies! Much like human infants, baby elephants derive great comfort from suckling. The orphans love to mouth their Keepers’ fingers and when the Keepers have their hands full, a bottle teat serves as an excellent stand-in.

We've been witnessing a baby boom of late among the ex-orphans – and in many ways, we can trace it all the way back to 2008, when Eve was born.
She was the first calf ever born to an orphan who had started their recovery at the Nairobi Nursery – a journey hundreds of motherless elephants have followed since. Emily, our trailblazing elephant matriarch, had come to us at one month old, pulled from a disused pit latrine. Her own mother failed to recognise her, so we raised her, and she returned to the wild.
Then, on the morning of 11th December 2008, the Keepers at Voi set out early. They had been watching for Emily for weeks – and the night before, they had spotted her standing beneath a tree on a rocky kopje near the stockades, attended by two wild cows. They knew what that meant.
When they returned at dawn, wobbling on unsteady legs beside her mother, was Eve. And since that moment, our wild family has continued to grow. Today it numbers 92 known babies, stretching from Eve to Imp – the newest member of the family: https://t.co/Axc5WPp9le
@MoneySavingExp - Weekly News Letter, Airport parking link for #HolidayExtras won't let me use a voucher for previously cancelled booking? Is there a reason why?
@cleveleysnews@unitedutilities Seems 2025 figures were published earlier this week.
UU has hghest number of incidents and 2nd highest total hours!
Apparently we should be congratulating the water industry for almost halving the number of spillages in 12 months!

Liverpool City Council are due to commence major roadworks on Speke Hall Road from Monday 16 March and continue for six months through to 31 July 2026.
These works will take place between the junction with Hillfoot Avenue and Speke Boulevard junction, with delays expected at peak times and possible diversions in place.
There may be some impact to traffic travelling to/from the airport along Speke Boulevard, so allow extra time if travelling to the airport from that direction.
Rescue is just the beginning. The real work starts after.
When we found Pips in September, she was running on her last reserves – her mother likely killed by lions. In full flight mode, she gave her rescuers the runaround for many hours.
To see her today – calm, comfortable, and completely blissed out with Keeper Fred – tells you everything about what happens next. Our Keepers are with the orphans around the clock, providing not just milk and medicine but emotional support, comfort, and continuity of care. For traumatised young animals, this makes all the difference.
The FCDO now advises against all but essential travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE.
If you are a British national in those countries, you should shelter in place and register your presence.
If you need consular assistance, you can call our teams 24/7.
Turn your sound on. That rumble is Kaikai saying good morning to her favourite people: her Keepers!
Seven months ago, she arrived at Kaluku as a fragile newborn. Incredibly vulnerable to the elements, we would place a cosy blanket on her back when she left her stable each morning to keep her warm and ward off the chill. Today, stronger and chubbier, she has no need for a blanket – although she still spends her nights resting her head on a soft bed of hay.

Just Kaikai living her best life in the mud bath. To every one of our adopters: thank you. Your support makes these moments possible – and helps us provide the round-the-clock care orphaned elephants need to survive, thrive and ultimately return home to the wild.
We'd love to hear from you – who's in your foster family and why did you choose to adopt them? Drop a comment below.
It's not all milk bottles and mud baths. Sometimes, the job description is just: play.
Our Keepers are with the orphans 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They sleep beside them at night, walk with them through the bush by day, and yes – they play. Because for a young elephant overcoming grief and learning to be an elephant again, play is everything.

Natibu was in a playful mood today! He's never met a race he didn't want to compete in – or a creature he didn't want to investigate.
He chases, charges, and teases anyone regardless of species or size. He battles Toto for control of the water hose. He tries to clamber on top of Kaikai until a stern finger wag – or a firm head butt from Kaikai herself – reminds him of his manners.
Incredibly, his story began with a report of a tiny elephant stuck down a manhole...https://t.co/vpVGVBctmt

Epiya believes that milk should be enjoyed at maximum speed, and who are we to deny her. She andKeeper Walter have come to an agreement! As he remarked, deftly filming-while-feeding, “Epiya loves her bottle without the lid, so I have to adhere to her request.”
Now a happy, feisty elephant, Epiya was once a traumatised orphan who we rescued in 2022 after her mother succumbed to the drought. She was found standing guard over her body.
She still has a long way to go as we nurture her towards a life back in the wild. Discover her story: https://t.co/BmwZ8xbkoU
Just some pure goodness to light up your week – Kaikai and Keeper Joseph enjoying a midday nap!
Kaikai is one of the youngest orphans in our care. We rescued her in May, after her mother died of natural causes. It was an uphill battle but today she is absolutely thriving.

Follow an emergency treatment of a big bull elephant with a paralysing arrow wound on his front leg. Between our Airwing and SWT/KWS Tsavo Vet Unit on the ground, he is on the road to recovery.
Update: Our pilots have been monitoring the bull’s progress, and yesterday it was deemed time for a followup treatment. The wound is starting to heal and this second intervention should take him several steps closer to recovery. We will continue to monitor his progress.
