Bitcoin went from $11,000 to $80,000 since 2020.
Michael Saylor has made about 1% a year on it.
Here are the numbers straight from Strategy's 8-K filed Monday.
840,447 BTC. $63.4 billion spent. Average purchase price $75,385.
At $80,000 that's a 6% total return over 6 years. Roughly 1% annually.
US inflation over those same 6 years is around 25%.
So he's up 6% in dollars while the dollar lost a quarter of its purchasing power. In real terms the position is down about 19%.
This isn't my maths either. Their own Q1 filing this year states the cost basis of their bitcoin exceeded its fair value, with a $14.46 billion unrealized loss on the quarter.
Bitcoin did more than 7x in that window.
He turned a 7x into 1% a year by buying almost all of it near the highs… oops.
Absolutely incredible…

Mark Cuban (10 minutes later): "Vote for James Talarico. Turn Texas blue. What have Republicans ever done for the state."
@TradexWhisperer What is the wafer demand from their customers? Do we have an idea of it? I assume they have the demand to justify the expansion but I’m not as plugged in
