@conor_pope I haven't been in the city centre once since even before lockdown. Use local shops where I can but my days of trekking into shopping centres to mindlessly but stuff are gone. I have realised that I I already have enough.

@DavidF97 I am ashamed of the Ireland that treated the Travelling community was so badly. I'm still trying to understand the reasons why people (including me) have had so many negative encounters and how this disjunct manifested itself. Raising awareness is key. You're doing a great job 👍

@TravellerRacism @Survival I teach on a course at UCC about indigenous people of the world and the similarity of what has happened to @minceir culture can be seen all over the world. You are NOT alone and there are many on your side trying to change things.

@TravellerRacism Travellers were and still are backed into a corner and ye reacted the way anything backed into a corner would have. The damage done is inexplicable. You can see the same thing happening all over the world still you can see it in @Survival. The Dalit caste & the adivasi in India

@1bernardsweeney @TravellerRacism The settled way of life has destroyed the roaming way of life which was much more sustainable. The indigenous in S. America, plant small crops in rotation and they travel around harvesting and leaving the land repair itself. Not sure if Irish travellers did that, be interesting

@TravellerRacism It must be so demoralising, the anger & shame becomes generational as well. In the lament workshops I'm involved with people express generations of hurt by using analogy 'tell hurt to get out and become the air and turn to rain that flows onto a flower' bad vibes transformed

@thejournal_ie The othering of Travellers and migrant children by teachers in schools are a sad and disturbing reality. Schools that say they are inclusive but allow their staff to marginalise students is shameful. It’s time to re-educate educators. Act inclusively not homogeneously.

@Icecreamlady3 @thejournal_ie Yes difficult to break the barrier between tradition and development of education and opoortunitues. Also difficult to keep your identity in it all also. So much consumerist pressure and so much pressure to conform and be like every one else

Pathetic really, people have no idea though, they don't associate this with the damage done to the indigenous @minceir community. It's the same as people don't associate cruelty to animals when they eat meat and dairy products #disassociated
