One of our many supporters created this to remind people that this is not just a fight for space for humans. Animals need space, too. When you vote, make it a vote that is truly inclusive of ALL living things. #Carrboro#biodiversitymatters
Wetlands are critically important ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate mitigation, the global economy and more.Yet, since 1970, 35% of the world’s wetlands have been lost.
Here are 5️⃣ reasons why we must take action to #RestoreWetlands.

@triblogblog Who made you king to decide what anything is about? That’s your own opinion. No this isn’t just about housing. It is about the solving the existential crisis of extinction while taking a breath between mass shootings. Humans need a place to truly live not just a place to survive.
@nowell4carrboro @CFrayforCouncil @EliazarPosada The Democratic Socialists are NOT for protecting biodiversity /wildlife. Reducing emissions by biking is their sole focus. They hate cars, but their policies of dense development w/ no new plans for mass transit creates MORE traffic not less...which is why they pave forests . 👎
We would like to thank Dr. Crystal Cavalier-Keck, Co-Founder and Director of 7 Directions of Service, for her letter of support for the preservation of Bolin Forest. You can read her full letter on our SubStack linked below. https://t.co/QwB0fu7q6Q
@PaulieJTails This is why Raleigh, Cary and other municipalities are moving their greenways out of and away from flood zones. They are causing intense flooding for people who live further downstream from these creeks and they are very expensive to maintain when they are actually open.
Endorsements for projects are meaningless when they are all written by planted people within organizations. The amount of networking and friendliness going on behind the scenes within even organizations like the local chapter of the Sierra Club is disturbing and wrong.
@_fryeguy And we are not just talking about Carrboro. People are paving EVERYWHERE. 4000 miles of new pavement in NC. Yes, it will be great. But only for humans— not wildlife trying to survive. Build a Greenway- just build it AROUND the habitats of animals along the edge of the forest.
@_fryeguy What is tiring is human’s lack of foresight. Sadly humans already polluted most creeks with sewage, chemical dumps and road runoff. Now you all want to build a busy transportation road in what is currently a last quiet and safe place for wildlife? Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Better public mass transit needs to come before or in tandem with housing development. Unless of course you want to widen highway 54 and I-40, which will definitely happen the rate we are going.
@PaulieJTails Not to mention running a road for electric bikes, straight through Bolin forest— one of the last intact preserved urban habitats. Be very careful who you vote for young students, there are a lot of people drinking the concrete kool-aid in #ChapelHill and #Carrboro right now
