We're political strategists and former advisors to @POTUS, @BarackObama, @HillaryClinton working to turn the tide in favor of families with the #ChildTaxCredit.
Before the Supreme Court took away abortion rights, Republicans stood against women and policies like the #ChildTaxCredit that help their families.
Now, voters are saying enough is enough.
This November, it's time to truly put women and families first.
President @JoeBiden ushered in a new economic paradigm for Americans—from championing the #ChildTaxCredit to historic public investments. His agenda helped shift power back to workers + families. Now it’s time for the next gen of leaders to carry these popular policies forward🧵
WATCH: PBS @NewsHour dives into how the #ChildTaxCredit lifted 2M children out of poverty by giving parents the ability to buy essentials for their kids like groceries and school supplies. The #CTC invests in families and supports working parents. https://t.co/IT6rIwgwri
Monthly Child Tax Credit payments reached 61M kids & cut childhood poverty in half in just one year.
But Republicans failed to extend it, forcing millions of kids back into poverty.
Congress must permanently reinstate the expanded #CTC & help put an end to childhood poverty.
@BasicBc @UBI_NOW It's weird. @KeepFamsAfloat asked for $2k/month for #UBI People say that's crazy. No one bats an eye to pay 3 times that to leave you in the street or 100k more to lock you up. How does that make sense?
As if we needed more evidence for #BasicIncome, here's more, this time from the Denver Basic Income Project (@denverbip) providing cash to hundreds of unhoused people for one year.
Preliminary results using the first 6 months of data:
• NO ONE receiving $1,000/mo still sleeping outside
• Full-time employment increased
• Fewer visits to the emergency room
• Fewer nights spent in jail
• Reduced feelings of distress and anxiety
• Feel safer and more welcome where they sleep
• Greater sense of hope

THREAD:
Extend the expanded #ChildTaxCredit and actually Help Families.
This isn’t partisan. A lot of families that vote Republican need and want a strong child tax credit that helps them make ends meet.
House GOP tax bill does nothing on what should be our top tax priority:
Extending the full #ChildTaxCredit to the 19 million kids who now get a partial credit or none at all b/c their incomes are too low, while high-income kids get full $2k/child. https://t.co/P09onliqp9
It’s time for every state to follow, and for Congress to take up and pass the American Family Act, restoring the Child Tax Credit expansions from 2021. They cut child poverty in half and helped families meet basic expenses – this should not be a difficult decision.

The national debt is never so high that Republicans can’t find a little more deficit financed handouts for billionaires.
In fact, once the GOP is done with this self-induced crisis, they will push for trillions in corporate tax cuts. Never mind what they say, watch what the do!
Win or lose, there could hardly be a more stark testimonial to the tight execution of #childtaxcredit campaign than @wsj pounding their tiny fists on the high chair tray and shouting, “I want my corporate tax breaks now now now!!!” (And using our photo!) https://t.co/GEUC06C53J
Today, I got a chance to talk about the benefits of the Child Tax Credit. This critical tool helped families ranging from the poorest of the poor to the middle-class, and the data proves this investment creates better outcomes for our children. Take a listen:
“We can give children more opportunities to succeed by restoring the expanded #ChildTaxCredit. We can ill-afford not to.” -@RepGwenMoore https://t.co/YoduyrhUcM
Some folks have made it on the *naughty* list this year by not supporting #CTC and #EITC and putting corporate profits over people! 😠 We’re at the Chamber of Commerce to say: No one should have to choose between paying the rent or child care for their kids. #CMC22
