I think he deserves some credit for Eze’s miss. Eze was waiting for him to move, and when he didn’t, Eze panicked a bit and had to try a conventional finish from no run up.
@AmyLundyDahl I fear Casper is never going to get a better chance than this 😭 if Joao and Jodar keep developing at warp speed, and Sincaraz has another 12-15 years. And there will be more young guns coming in 3-5 years…
@cetchingham_ He makes the most of what he’s got. He’s not the most naturally gifted. They’re are a fair few keepers I’d have in my team ahead of him, but he’s done well enough for PSG.
I’m not sure he’s close enough for a block, but this seems to be the default now. Also, from an angle this tight, the goal gets narrower, but it never gets shorter. There’s real danger in dropping/disengaging your hands, because nothing else will help you on a high shot.
@leighralphuae That’s a good point. For me the primary problem with dropping into a block there is that there’s too much distance between them. So yeah if he can step out earlier and close the gap he does probably force something different from Havertz.
Feel for Montreal a little. They remind me a lot of the Canes in 2021-24. You have to learn hard lessons in the playoffs, and get used to playing all through May, before it all comes together. This is a couple of years too early for them.
@themoderndaygk I have these exact regrets. Had my time at places like Brentford and Dunfermline Athletic and did NOT make the most of the opportunity to really work, improve, and impress. Instead I thought, “I’ve done really well to get here,” and was satisfied 🤦🏻
@tennisabstract 2091 Wimbledon is a good example of this. People still think Roger won his first Wimbledon when he beat Pete. He didn’t. He wasn’t ready for that yet. What he did do is pave the way for Goran to get his Slam.
