@taahir98 Agreed he's not close enough but once he's found himself in that position the hands have to go up (and from reading keeper coaches on here this is not something they are taught - keepers are taught neutral position at all times, it would appear)
@Keepers_Union@cetchingham_ Love this. Why is this not taught? Past the six yard box, but not inside it, hands surely have to go higher? De Gea was a master at using his feet in these situations (if needed) but keeper coaches I question on here seem to think I am wrong!!
@Don_K_Williams Thanks for confirming that coaches are unwilling to even listen to new ideas and instead resorting to sarcasm! I actually played in goal, at a decent level, but in field hockey, which is why my views may come across as left field. We were taught to raise the hands.
@Don_K_Williams Did you see Havertz's goal last night? Because the hands are so low the goalkeeper goes into self-protection mode and gets easily beaten. There has to be an angle at which the hands come up higher - I will die on this hill... keeper training is outdated in this regard!
@Don_K_Williams Agreed, but from a very wide angle that likelihood becomes much lower. Plus if one is going to parry, the feet create a stronger rebound than the hands. See this Ronaldo goal the other day - surely the priority is stopping a goal not holding the ball?
@Abdulmukhteeee@BelieveInKlopp Great finish, made possible by keeper's hands being way too low. If keeper comes out his invites a tap in cross so is forced to stay put imo.
@futboltherapist@colchonino En gardant les mains aussi basses, il invite le tir et expose en même temps la réaction humaine qui consiste à esquiver lorsque le ballon s'approche de son visage.
@bleating_lamb@cutlerstom Isn't top level sport all about the small percentages? Do they not look a percentage chance of success per metre closer to the centre of the posts? I asked a Prem coach once and he said no, actually, which blew my mind! Chessum played v well, but this is an oversight.
@AlanRaimes@kelvmackenzie There’s a reason you don’t hear successful comedians leaning on those punchlines anymore — not because they’re banned, but because they’re predictable and only land with a shrinking audience.
@AlanRaimes@kelvmackenzie He can absolutely make jokes about gays. And they may well get a roaring laugh. But look up what his job is and what the remit is and then tell me if you think he genuinely embodies the beliefs that role entails.
@cwjreynolds 99% of the comments on the article are defending the joke! It baffles me that people can't see the Ratner-esque irony of their Deputy Chair making gay slurs when he job is to promote inclusivity!
