Perhaps the future of the church isn't bigger. Perhaps it’s smaller, deeper and closer. Not centralised, but distributed. Not spectacular, but sacrificial. Not consumer-driven, but participatory. The church doesn't need more halls. It needs more people willing to open their doors

What if church needs to get smaller to get stronger?
The early church gathered in homes. They prayed, ate, studied scripture and cared for one another. Their faith wasn't something they attended. It was a way of life.

It's influence wouldn't depend on political power or impressive buildings. It would come from Christians becoming trustworthy neighbours, good citizens and people who actively improve their communities.

Some are informed, some are ignorant. Yet here we are, yoked together in this giant melting pot of the wise and the foolish. Smelting in the same furnace, forged on the same anvil. In the words of the great poet and philosopher Nasir Jones, 'we're soldiers of the same struggle'.
