more than one hundred years ago a young man named Upton Sinclair, living in a small cabin about two miles from this house, on Rosedale Rd., Princeton, wrote a novel exposing the unspeakably filthy conditions of meat-packing in Chicago, titled "The Jungle." President Teddy Roosevelt read the novel, his stomach (which was considerable) was turned, he called Sinclair to the White House, & soon thereafter laws were passed to regulate (to some degree) the meat-packing industry.
Today we don't have a US president who can read, let alone read an entire novel; we have a US president who has deregulated industries that provide food & medicine for us, to our detriment.
just heard my wife threaten my daughter with holding her back in age, not letting her turn 7 (because daughter’s been delinquent in a responsibility). she was looking at my wife kind of scared, like, “i didn’t even know you could do that.” and i’m looking at my wife the same way
Musk did an interview with the editor of the Economist, a posh white woman, centrist, daughter of an army officer.
It went badly for Musk.
So now she’s a ‘traitor to the West.’
Totally normal response from a normal guy.
this is WRONG. they LOVED bureaucracy. romans invented the concept of a building inspector!!! augustus capped apartment blocks at 70 ft because they kept pancaking on tenants, nero wrote an entire building code after rome burned in 64 ad, including mandating wider streets…
Devon & Cornwall Police spent four years supposedly investigating whether some creatine powder – in its original packaging – in my house was a class A drug. They even froze my bank accounts over it.
I wouldn't trust them to honestly investigate the contents of a sandwich. 🥪
50% of British voters think that Israel is committing genocide.
Just 17% disagree.
55% think the UK should no longer consider Israel an ally.
15% think the UK should be an ally of Israel.
That's the latest YouGov polling.
Support for Israel is a fringe position in Britain.
“And what I think is important to know is a lot of the increase in rape also comes from an expanded definition of what counts as rape, as well as survivors coming forward for acts that took place years prior,” Mamdani said. “And we are thankful for them coming forward, the courage and the bravery it takes, but just to provide New Yorkers with that context.”
In 2024 New York instituted a new law that, per the NYPost, "classifies rape as nonconsensual or forcibly compelled sexual intercourse, oral sexual conduct or anal sexual conduct after previously defining rape as only nonconsensual or forcibly compelled vaginal penetration by a penis."
So... New York (rightly!) expanded the definition of what counts as rape. More survivors (thankfully!) came forward. As a result, official rates of rape increased. So Mamdani was... right and everyone is just yelling about this in bad faith?
Never forget when an Israeli settler
literally dragged the body of a lifeless
child with a rope behind his golf court.
He can even be seen touching the body later.
a ésta hermana la han arrestado más veces por defender la humanidad que a los pederastas que siguen en cargos políticos aprobando que bombardeén civiles, realmente vivimos en el infierno
After this £10,000,000,000 “mistake” they had the cheek to tell us NHS workers they couldn’t afford to give us a pay rise.
Meanwhile, here is Michelle Moans new Yacht.
I said this about AI well over a year ago. Using it to diagnose and fire people with medical conditions so they lose their insurance AND their income is somehow even more heartless and evil than I’d predicted.
