Kenya Now plans to expand the 243km Mau Summit-Malaba highway into a 4-lane toll road.

This project, part of a PPP arrangement, means motorists traveling from Nairobi to Western Kenya (Eldoret, Bungoma, and Busia) may soon pay toll fees for the entire trip.

A 29-year-old team lead on NASA's nuclear thermal engine for Mars was found burned beyond recognition in his own Tesla. Phone, wallet, and dog left at his apartment. He's the 12th scientist in a pattern the FBI is now spearheading.

Joshua LeBlanc worked on DRACO, NASA's nuclear thermal propulsion engine built to enable crewed Mars missions and deep space exploration. On July 22, 2025, his family reported him missing at 4:32 AM after he uncharacteristically failed to show up to Marshall Space Flight Center.

His Tesla sat at Huntsville International Airport for four hours that morning. Then it drove two hours west on rural back roads to Walker County. At 2:45 PM it hit a guardrail, slammed into trees, and went up in flames. The body inside was so burned that forensic sciences needed three days to confirm identity.

Here's where it stops looking like a crash.

Monica Reza, 60, material scientist who co-invented a nickel superalloy for next-gen rocket engines, vanished mid-hike in 2025. Thirty feet behind her group. Gone.

In 2006, a statue of this great son of the soil, was erected in Nairobi, as a celebration of his heroism towards the independence of Kenya

PUBLIC UPDATE ON THE MAU SUMMIT–ELDORET–MALABA ROAD

The Government of Kenya is taking steps to modernise the Mau Summit–Eldoret–Malaba road through a Public Private Partnership approach.

As part of the preparatory phase, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved a grant to support comprehensive planning and assessment work for the project. The grant will finance specialist studies to evaluate the condition of the corridor, identify required improvements, and determine the most appropriate and sustainable way to deliver the project.

The Mau Summit–Malaba corridor is a vital transport link connecting the Rift Valley to Western Kenya and serving as a key gateway to the East African region. Proper preparation of the project is expected to improve road safety, ease congestion, reduce transport costs, and strengthen trade and economic activity along the route.

The National Treasury, through the PPP Directorate, is coordinating the preparatory work in collaboration with the Kenya National Highways Authority. The project remains at a planning stage, and any decision to proceed to construction will be subject to the completion of studies and the attainment of all required statutory approvals.
