If you want journalism to exist, maybe don't screenshot entire paywalled stories and post them on Twitter. You're not sticking it to the media industry, you're just making it harder for independent reporters to get paid for their work. Absolute loser behavior.
@SarahDuggers@hlengiii_21 I kept my boyfriend what’s app going over a year by texting it back and forth. Sometimes I’d forgot I’d text myself and have a brief moment where I saw his name on my phone. Then it got too painful. And his pic went and now I can’t text him.
I think journalists need to have a norm against screencapping other people’s reporting with no link in tweet and/or tag to author / outlet. Seeing big accounts go viral for posts that clearly present others’ work as their own
Hey look you can hate paywalls if you want but deliberately sharing workaround links, screenshots, copy pasting reporters’ work is literally gonna get people laid off bc then their bosses think no one is reading their work bc those clicks don’t count towards their stories
A note about press: sometimes you have to pay for news in order to support journalism. I know paywalls can be frustrating but, especially as a freelancer, it matters when people read stuff I publish from the links versus a paywall blocking site or screengrabs
@it_is_fareed Most soft drink are unpalatable now. Only appetiser is the same. I hate artificial sweeteners and would pay the difference to have the sugar. I miss shloer the most
@DMTWestEnd Supposed to see Dracula tomorrow. Can't make it w/strikes - tried to exchange & told no as "the strikes planned wks ago". I was hoping they would be cancelled. Then was told "just give them to someone else if you can't go" great understanding customer service there
It's amazing to remember the snobbery with which fellow journalists met this story - the idea that anyone going to The Sun could only be doing so with nefarious motives.
The rush to take the side of the millionaire celebrity over the working-class couple terrified for their son
@ScarletHowes@MrHarryCole@TheSun Really interesting piece. I can’t imagine what it was like for you in the days after and I’m so glad your dedication to the story payed off.
