Indeed, innocent people have likely died in prison because of Missy Woods actions. I can name two:

Alan Phillips was convicted in 2022 of a 1982 double murder of two women. His conviction relied heavily on DNA evidence and testimony from Woods. His family says she discovered his DNA decades later then deleted her analysis. He was sentenced to two life terms and died by suicide in prison in February 2023.

Michael Fisher was serving life for a 1996 murder and actively seeking a new trial over Woods tainted evidence when he died on June 6 2026 after an incident at Bent County Correctional Facility. The circumstances remain unclear.

An 8 to 16 year sentence is far too lenient.

Her punishment should reflect the lifelong and sometimes fatal consequences she inflicted on others, IMO she should share their fate.
