Introducing DeepSeek R1:1.5b Running Locally in Cursor!
In less than 4 minutes, I set up the DeepSeek R1:1.5b model, download it, and run it locally to seamlessly work with code in Cursor
The video is shown in real-time, with the model impressively running on an Intel Core i5 😱 using Ollama and the CodeGPT extension 👇
DeepSeek stole the AI thunder:
- with zero hype from CEO,
- zero "omg guys it changez everythin" influencers
- no swanky demos
- no bloated promises
- no hints at "AGI achieved internally"
They did it by
shipping an actual product.
@joboaler There are too many “Ed Consultants” and not enough Consultants actually in the classroom. Especially with these “AI Educators” If PD is offered by a person in the classroom, I feel it is much more believable— but not many Ts have time to present and share. Ts need time to share.
@playfulpython @s_gruppetta_ct @sama@teachingpython Definitely, thats the fun part of teaching my older kids- you can really test reading comprehension & problem solving skills with Generative AI. And kids have a hard time coming up with novel ideas. At times I think they wish they had those basic problems to solve instead
@sama Teaching coding and AI to kids, what are your thoughts? @teachingpython
As teachers, are we wasting our time, or hoping for kids to still have a hand in coding and changing the world through tech?
