The growth of this council, and with the announcement that @Refugees is delivering aid to 600,000 refugees in Afghanistan on @HesabPay_, indicates that using stablecoins to reach the most marginalized in the most distressed countries is taking off. More to come.@AlgoFoundation

More than 625,000 refugee returnees and 17,500 internally displaced people in Afghanistan have received aid from @Refugees through reloadable cards on @HesabPay_, the payments platform powered by Algorand, reaching people in areas where traditional banking infrastructure is limited or unavailable.

$35M in assistance has been securely delivered since the Humanitarian Payments Council convened in Berlin in September 2025. The annual meeting started today in DC.
