Volcanologist at the Geological Survey of Canada 🌋
I work on volcanic hazards/monitoring and volcano-ice interaction in Canada (BC/Yukon) (Opinions are my own)
After days/weeks of increased activity (which included a major explosion and 2 effusive events) at #stromboli, this morning a partial collapse of the crater rim generated a flow and initiated a lava effusion. Ondametric gauges recorded a 2-cm tsunami

Sentinel-1 interferogram spanning 20 July to 1 August 2022 showing new dike intrusion on Reykjanes Peninsula and deformation associated with the M5.47 earthquake on 31 July 2022.
During this week, the INVOLCAN team who traveled to #SaoJorge (#Azores) together with CIVISA/IVAR personnel, have carried out in-situ measurements of the diffuse flow of carbon dioxide (CO2) and take samples of soil gas
@aknj A swarm of earthquakes has been detected in the vicinity of Mount Edgecumbe, beginning at about 2 am AKDT on Monday, April 11, 2022.
The cause of this earthquake swarm is currently unknown. This swarm may be associated with volcanic processes or regional tectonic activity
For information about the seismic swarm and deformation occurring at São Jorge volcano in the Azores, CIVISA (CENTRO DE INFORMAÇÃO E VIGILÂNCIA SISMOVULCÂNICA DOS AÇORES) is monitoring the situation: https://t.co/CQANlEVHqr
LOOK: Footage of the phreatomagmatic eruption of Taal Main Crater from onset at 7:22 AM to 8:59 AM, 26 March 2022, recorded by the Cuenca Observation Station (VTCU).
Cumbre Vieja volcano: INVOLCAN reports a swarm of more than 60 seismic events at 10-13 km depth. "These long-period seismic events do not reflect a process of magmatic intrusion, but a release of hydrothermal fluids caused by the cooling of the magmatic chamber"
My first, first author article with @txgeosciences is finally out after 2+ years of working on it! Turns out pictures of damaged trees tells stories about volcanic eruptions. Plead share or read if you are interested, its open access! #OA#MountStHelens

It's great news that Tonga has had its communications restored, more than a month after the devastating eruption and tsunami, as they work to rebuild and recover from the disaster.

A month after the eruption/tsunami, some pictures of the tragedy in Tonga due to Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai and it effects on the people of Tonga. My hopes and sympathies are with them for their recovery from this disaster:

We're sharing what we know about the globally significant Tongan eruption today - including that info we have indicates it's not currently erupting. The atmospheric shockwave is still being recorded around the globe! 🌋https://t.co/K2DArniDrG #HungaTongaHungaHaapai#volcano
