Earlier today, addressing distinguished Heads of State and Government, Delegations, friends and distinguished guests at the Opening Ceremony of the FOCAC Summit in Beijing.
The friendship between China and Africa transcends time and space, across mountains and seas, and is passed from generation to generation. After nearly 70 years of hard work, China-Africa relations are at their best in history.
China and Africa account for one third of the world's total population, and without the modernization of China and Africa, there would be no modernization of the world. Looking to the future, I propose that the bilateral relations between China and all African countries that have diplomatic relations be upgraded to the level of strategic relations, and that the overall orientation of China-Africa relations be upgraded to an all-weather China-Africa community. This is the community that will work together to promote a shared future in the new era that is fair, open, reasonable and win-win; a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress.
