@BuildAfterWork I struggle with this as well. Organizations raise money from their customers and then give it to charity as if it were from them.

I love giving and I still say yes to round up. But it feels disingenuous when I see the company announce their giving.

Fun fact most people don’t know:

Almost 75 years before the movie Pay It Forward made the phrase famous, President Calvin Coolidge used it in his official 1926 Thanksgiving Proclamation:
“Thanksgiving Day is a good day to recommit our energies to giving thanks and just paying forward the blessings that have come to us through no merit of our own.”

Coolidge didn’t invent the idea (it appeared in writing as early as 1916), but a U.S. President putting “paying forward” in a national proclamation in 1926 definitely helped bring the concept into the spotlight long before it became a modern catchphrase.

Show me you are hard working, accountable, driven, ambitious and willing to work longer than 60 days before you think you’re ready for the VP role. I don’t care about your degree - I care about those traits and behaviors.

More employers need to look for these traits rather than degrees, remove the degree requirement if not absolute and overtime help reduce the crushing financial destruction of young people’s lives that college loans have become.
