We’ve gotten some really good Black films from Black filmmakers like Exhibiting Forgiveness or All Dirt Road Taste of Salt or Earth Mama that have fallen victim to small release and distribution. It’s a double edge sword.
Important article about the work of doulas and midwives addressing maternal health in the New Haven area. It features doulas Jessica Westbrook, Shamica Frasier, and midwives Heather Dawn Reynolds, Oni Muhammad, and me.

Huge thank you to @romper for letting @VShabo & I write about our new research & report on why we need more stories about abortion, family, and caregiving onscreen
Headline: Abortion Stories On Screen Rarely Show Reality. We deserve Better. https://t.co/LqQY9Bz0vB
Past Lives is one of the most beautiful heart-opening films I have ever had the pleasure to experience. I need it to win every single one of these made up awards 🥹
Idk how but I really want to write something for class about all these young Black celebrities getting pregnant. There’s really something to be studied because so many ppl are getting pregnant rn.
But as some of us are quick to laugh…or cry. What about the people who see themselves, their aspirations being ridiculed. Ppl are quick to judge Chrisean but not to help her but that doesn’t change how much her baby is wanted…
This is a pivotal moment — the WGA is fighting not just for a fair contract now, but for the future of creative careers, period. Stand with them, fight with them, and please resist the misinformation being spread around. Everyone loves stories — value the people who create them.
I have been an avid fan of #Ramy since the first season. Ive especially loved the presence of God in the chaos and comedy that is this show but I have to say the season 3 finale has broken me open on a whole other level.
This episode truly speaks the chaotic lead up and breakthrough that is finding love for/from a higher power. To see these characters dive headfirst into the lives they’ve been leading and come out the other side is truly a thing of beauty
If I never hear the phrase true crime again it would still be too soon. Also the line between police procedural and true crime is too thin in the romanticization of violent crime.
The ‘invisible audience’ of social media as filming strangers and the performance of every day life creates the expectation and impulse to watch & be watched
After binging the entirety of SVU it gave me a lot to think about in the ways we construct morality and justice as well as the long-standing social impact of such a show. John Oliver spoke to it so perfectly while giving incredible added context https://t.co/2sCamreiuV
