The "glass skin" trend pushed people toward over-exfoliation.
Reality check:
Healthy skin has texture. Pores are normal. Some variation in tone is human.
Glass skin in photos = lighting + filters + genetics, rarely just skincare.
Chasing unrealistic standards damages your actual skin barrier.
How to check product pH:
Buy pH test strips.
Test your products:
• Dispense small amount
• Touch strip to product
• Compare color to chart
If your cleanser is pH 8+, switch it.
Let's talk about pH in skincare.
Your cleanser's pH could be slowly destroying your skin barrier, and you'd never know until the damage is done.
Here's what you need to know 🧵
Ideal pH by product type:
Cleansers: 4.5-6.5
Toners: 5.0-7.0
Vitamin C serums: 2.5-3.5 (needs to be acidic to work)
AHA/BHA products: 3.0-4.0
Moisturizers: 5.0-7.0
Too acidic = irritation
Too alkaline = barrier damage
Balance matters.
Vitamin C serums turning brown or orange?
That's oxidation. And oxidized vitamin C doesn't just stop working it can actually IRRITATE your skin.
Signs your vitamin C is dead:
• Color change (should be clear/pale yellow)
• Strange smell
• Changed texture
Toss it. Don't use oxidized actives.
If someone shares their skin struggles with you, listen without:
❌ Suggesting they "just try X product"
❌ Minimizing ("it's not that bad")
❌ Blaming ("have you tried drinking more water?")
✅ Just listen with empathy.
Sometimes that's enough.
If you're struggling with skin conditions:
• It's okay to feel upset about it
• Your feelings are valid
• Seeking help (dermatological + psychological) is strength, not weakness
• There are effective treatments (both medical and mental health)
You deserve support.

Reapply every 2 hours in sun.
Check your skin monthly.
Prevention is powerful.
@CoachDanGo A few adds if you’re going for healthiest on the planet:
• Timers for posture + eye breaks
• blue-light glasses for eye health
• hydration + quality supplements
• healthy snack stasher (not just tech)
• mental breaks & mindfulness timer
• air quality + CO₂ monitors
Bottom line for World Cancer Day:
Don't fear parabens. Fear inadequate sun protection. The cosmetic ingredient most proven to prevent cancer (sunscreen) is underused. The ones with no proven cancer link (parabens) are over-feared.
Science literacy saves lives.
Tomorrow is World Cancer Day.
So let's address the elephant in the room:
"Do cosmetics cause cancer?"
