I beg to correct🙏, it was in the group stages of 2014/2015 Champions League, First leg PSG won by 3-1 in Parc Des Prince. Second leg 3-1 in favour of barca. Suarez scored 2 goals and the second goal was were he nutmeg David Luiz to score, Barca played PSG in Semi-finals again

FIFA banned Luis Suarez from all football activities for four months for biting a player at the World Cup. Barcelona signed him anyway. Here is what happened next.

Let me tell you the full story of what this goal against PSG means, because it does not make sense without the context of everything that happened before it.

In June 2014, at the World Cup in Brazil, Luis Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a group stage match, and FIFA handed him a four month ban from all football related activities, which meant he could not train, could not play, and could not even enter a stadium as a spectator, and Barcelona signed him anyway for £65 million, which at the time made him one of the most expensive players in football history, and a lot of people thought that was an absolutely ridiculous decision.

The effect of the ban was later reduced to involve just football matches.

He had earlier received a 10-game ban in the EPL after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, and then the much longer four month ban for doing the same to Chiellini, so this was not a one off moment of madness, this was a pattern, and Barcelona still signed him, and the football world watched very carefully to see what would happen next.

What happened next was that he finally made his debut in October 2014 at the Clasico against Real Madrid, and then spent the next few months struggling to find his footing, managing just one goal in his first eight appearances, which gave every single doubter in the world exactly the ammunition they were looking for, and the noise around whether Barcelona had wasted their money was getting very loud.

After spending his initial time at Barcelona on the right side with Messi through the middle, the two switched positions in January 2015, and from that moment everything changed completely, because suddenly MSN, Messi, Suarez and Neymar, started clicking in a way that nobody had quite seen before, and the goals started flowing in a torrent that the rest of Europe simply had no answer for.

That goal against PSG in the quarter finals, where he nutmegged David Luiz twice and scored a brace at the Parc des Princes, was the moment the whole world understood exactly what Barcelona had bought, and he went on to score in the Champions League final against Juventus in Berlin, converting the rebound after Buffon saved from Messi to put Barcelona back in front, and they won the treble, La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Champions League, becoming only the second club in history to win the continental treble twice.

Suarez ended his first season at Barcelona with 25 goals and 20 assists in all competitions, and MSN ended with 122 goals between them, the most in a single season for an attacking trio in Spanish football history, and that record still stands today because no three forwards have ever combined that kind of individual quality with that level of telepathic chemistry at the same time, and most people who study the game seriously will tell you that MSN is the greatest forward line in the history of football, not just Spanish football, but football.

During their three year spell together, the three superstars scored a scarcely believable 354 goals, and Suarez individually went on to win the European Golden Shoe in 2016, scoring 40 La Liga goals in a single season and beating both Messi and Ronaldo to the award, which tells you everything about how good he actually was once he found his rhythm.

Barcelona were laughed at for signing a man who bit people. He helped them win their second treble in history and formed the greatest attacking trio the game has ever seen.
