"Our minority and immigrant communities deserve better. Caregiving is not just a service. It is a relationship built on trust. By sidelining the very organizations that have fostered these relationships, NY risks replacing care with chaos."

@GovKathyHochul plans to hand New York’s home care program to PPL, a company with a record of costly failures.
Call 1-877-K-HOCHUL and tell Governor Hochul: Stop big business from hijacking our homecare!

I have no idea how hotel clerks at migrant shelters have the power to stop the NYPD under ANY circumstances, much less after a 911 call.
Nobody has been able to adequately explain this, and I’ve asked repeatedly.
These shelters are being treated like embassies, and it’s insane.
Right on, @VickieforNYC!
We don’t need gentrifying transplants telling us how to live. And why should we listen to a paid lobbyist pushing this nonsense anyway?
The weather is getting colder in #NYC. Today, over 350,000 NYC residents experience homelessness, while only 130,000 find space in insecure and overcrowded city shelters. 1 in 9 NYC students are homeless, and yet our city ONLY prioritizes migrant shelters.
That’s why we need #NYS to open more mental health care hospitals, and house homeless families and children before we spend another cent on migrant shelter space. We need the promised health care workers helping #NYPD help emotionally disturbed persons out of our transit system. It is unsafe for all involved. With the city failing homeless every year, let’s do our best this winter to help our most vulnerable!
District Leader Hiram Monserrate stated, "Today we are thankful. I observed well over 200 police officers from the NYPD and NYS Troopers. Today, true leadership stood up and began the process of taking Roosevelt Avenue back from the street gangs, cartels, sex traffickers, street walkers and other criminal operations. We support our police, and the community is looking forward to seeing positive results. We need public safety and quality of life returned to Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona and East Elmhurst and we will remain vigilant.”
You don't say?! Pro-criminal laws fueling crime? Shocking.
Yet most of my colleagues in government stay silent, even though they know sanctuary city laws, bail reform, discovery law changes, Raise the Age, Less is More, and the HALT Act are putting New Yorkers in danger. (1/2)
.@NYCSpeakerAdams is right on🎯: the shared e-scooters have been a nuisance for many of our constituents. I see them blocking sidewalks and posing an obstacle to our elderly and disabled community almost daily. It's past time for @NYC_DOT to listen to our concerns!
Hey since we’re investigating prominent New York politicians for corruption, any interest in Brad Lander (who also wants to be mayor) or is he far enough on the left to be immune to law enforcement?
The federal indictment of NYC Mayor Eric Adams seems thin. I don’t care that his honor had a deeply discounted hotel suite in Istanbul. I care that crime and homelessness are down and streets are safer.
This is not Serpico. This alleged ‘corruption’ seems technical and petty.
I got emotional speaking about what they did to our children. No sports, no graduations, no proms. Silent lunches and zoom school. We’ve done such harm with prolonged and cruel Covid policies. Varma, Chokshi and De Blasio must all be held accountable. #VarmaGate#NeverForget
When there are open borders with no vetting and zero selection criteria and no deportation especially in sanctuary states, you get murderers, rapists, and gang members.
In fact it's worse than that, because these policies specifically attract individuals who have reason to flee their own countries because of their crimes. We're quite literally creating a magnet for the exact opposite sort of immigrant we want to attract to our country.
The net result is what we're currently living through -- a wave of lawlessness and violence the likes of which we've never seen before. Everyone is suffering, including immigrant communities. Walk through an immigrant neighborhood in New York and ask them what they think of our border policy.
This is why two weeks ago our caucus sent a letter to Governor Hochul demanding she use her emergency powers to enable New York to halt our sanctuary status. Unfortunately we've received no response on this request, and now another New Yorker is dead.
The only conclusion we can draw is that this horror is the new status quo Democrats want us all to learn to live with. Vote accordingly.
It’s insanity to cling to a policy that puts New Yorkers in danger. This religious movement must end now. The Common Sense Caucus will continue standing up for reason and the people. (1/2)
We've known this for a very long time now, but Democrats deliberately obfuscated and outright lied about it every single time we challenged them.
They prefer the convenient political myth that 'migrants commit less crime than citizens', borne of the deliberate fallacy that if you simply refuse to collect accurate data, you can make smug, unfalsifiable claims.
The reality is that we've known all along that violent latin gang activity has absolutely exploded in this city -- gangs which have been allowed to cross our border unchecked by the Biden-Harris administration and allowed to thrive here in NYC thanks to our suicidal sanctuary city and non-prosecution laws.
Now we're seeing chaos and brutality on a scale we've never witnessed in this city. And it's only getting worse as these gangs push the limits further and further, only to realize every time that there virtually IS NO LIMIT to what they can get away with here.
Even now, as ordinary New Yorkers begin to wake up to the reality of what our far-left politics has wrought and gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13 operating openly and with near impunity, progressive Democrats STILL refuse to even entertain the idea of changing course.
To the contrary, progressives on our Council continue their insane push to ERASE THE GANG DATABASE, with their bill to do so (Intro 0798) currently sitting with 19 sponsors. There is no talk of arrests or deportation of these criminals at all. It's just ignored, or glossed over with some meaningless bromide about 'violence' and 'community'. This is what we're dealing with.
It's worth mentioning that EVERY member of the Progressive Caucus has enthusiastically endorsed Kamala Harris for president.
And we had an opportunity to put our Sanctuary City law on the ballot this year via referendum, giving ordinary New Yorkers a chance to directly vote on whether that disastrous law should be rescinded, but the city charter commission refused to include the question, knowing that it was almost certain to be defeated by a fed up population and deal a massive embarrassment to Democrats.
This situation is untenable. Democrats flatly ignore reality and refuse to engage with anything that contradicts their ideology. Instead we get astroturfed TikTok dances and transparently disingenuous exclamations of 'joy' as our city -- and every other blue city -- crumbles into lawlessness and bankruptcy.
We just cannot continue down this path. We need a border, we need deportations, and we need aggressive policing and prosecutions. Without that, nothing else we do will matter.
Transnational gangs here illegally have learned from experience that our country is a free-for-all with approximately zero consequences, especially in blue states. As such, they've "green lit" attacks on American law enforcement -- previously a bright red line, even for these organizations.
But they now justifiably feel they have the upper hand, and have decided to press their advantage. This is going to get extremely bad, and we are simply not prepared for South American cartel-style gang warfare here. Not the police, not the public, and certainly not our completely dismantled criminal justice system.
We have a very small window to eradicate this threat before it gets out of control -- and very bloody. We can close the border and undertake a massive federally-led enforcement action to roll up these gangs, expel them from the country, and ensure they never come back.
And it's absolutely not going to happen with Kamala Harris in charge.
