@GovKathyHochul plans to hand New York’s home care program to PPL, a company with a record of costly failures.
Call 1-877-K-HOCHUL and tell Governor Hochul: Stop big business from hijacking our homecare!

"Since the state brought on @PartnerwithPPL to run CDPAP, it’s been nothing but chaos. Their technology fails. Their phones go unanswered. And now, caregivers across the state aren’t even being paid for their work."

"Workers described a chaotic rollout that left them feeling unable to properly assist CDPAP consumers & caregivers.
...They felt the system itself was not designed to adequately accommodate CDPAP consumers & their disabilities."

NEW: Starting May 1, Leading Edge will begin offering two bare-bones insurance plans to thousands of home health aides in New York.
The company has a record of backing out of paying for health procedures and trying to leave patients with the bill.

"Right now, this is not working," state Assemblywoman @JoAnneSimonBK52, a Brooklyn Democrat, told reporters Tuesday of the transition.

I asked @GovKathyHochul about CDPAP transition to PPL and the issues many users are having. We continue to take calls from people who aren't getting paid, who can't get through to anyone on the phone lines and even some who've had their identities compromised by PPL. @news10nbc
We've been warning this would happen. It's been 21 sleepless nights since PPL took over, and our PAs still aren't being paid correctly. Frustration is growing—and now thousands of consumers could go without care. @NYHealthCommish@GovKathyHochul@PartnerwithPPL don't seem to care
Almost half of the caregivers employed through NY’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance program aren’t yet being paid by the state’s new contractor, reports @adambrosio_ https://t.co/BFr4sI7QZu
“I wasn’t paid by PPL this week. I don’t know if I’m going to be paid by PPL,” Murphy said.
Another 30-yr recipient in the program told us that 2 of 3 aides weren’t paid for their correct hours last week.
NY must #ProtectHomeCare and #CancelTheContract.

“The Department of Health is fully admitting that PPL is not up to the job and that thousands of consumers are facing disruption of care,” said @bromalley.

"This has a ripple effect. You are taking away income from the poorest people in the state, most of these people are low-income living paycheck to paycheck," Hernandez said. "You are asking them to work for free on a promise to pay."
#CancelTheContract to #ProtectHomeCare
New: I talked with CDPAP consumers, workers and facilitators who paint a grim picture of the registration process with PPL. At 11 am program participants will be tuning in for a court hearing where they hope a federal judge will implement a delay: https://t.co/IRIj7bZFC6
As predicted...PPL systems don't work for the many New Yorkers have done EVERYTHING they can to get in.
The state really made a mess of CDPAP. While it may take some time for FIs to get up & running again, thank GOODNESS for the TRO.
Attorneys with Patterson Belknap and @nylag have filed an urgent appeal with the Court.
The letter notes that "DOH is defying the Court’s TRO to serve their overarching goal of punishing the existing FIs at the expense of CDPAP consumers."
@NAACPNYS: The ongoing CDPAP transition is a racial justice crisis unfolding in real time. Black and brown NYers comprise the majority of both home care consumers & caregivers and stand to lose the most at this moment should the deadline not be extended.

Less than 24 hours until @PartnerwithPPL’s incompetence leaves many disabled & older New Yorkers without care— risking lives @NYHealthCommish & @GovKathyHochul, this is on you too. I still have PAs & review but no service authorization. Tomorrow, I get no care. @NYSenatorRivera
Live on @CapitalTonight & Spectrum News, @HealthNYGov sent the following emails and fliers to solicit state workers to “volunteer” to help with the CDPAP transition.
Emails sent to workers from DOH exclusively obtained by Spectrum News.
Story online TK.
@CBS6Briana tried calling PPL herself after speaking w/worried personal assistants & consumers -- no answer.
Some consumers have been waiting WEEKS for a call back.
A grace period won't fix this mess. @PartnerwithPPL has shown us they can't do it. NY must cancel the contract!
