The findings of this new study do not support a direct effect of gabapentinoid treatment on self-harm but underscore the necessity for close patient monitoring of self-harm throughout the gabapentinoid treatment journey

Treatment with gabapentinoids isn't directly associated with an increased risk of self-harm, finds this study.
However, rates of self-harm were higher before and shortly after treatment, highlighting the need for close monitoring of patients @KennethKCMan

New in @bmj_latest:
Gabapentinoid treatment not directly linked to increased self-harm risk.
Risk is highest before and after treatment—not during.

A very nice study by @BoheeLEE4 and @chloebloom using multiple study designs (self-controlled case series & cohort analysis) showed consistent results: metformin lowered asthma attack risk by ~30%, with GLP-1RA adding 40%. A robust approach to observational data!
Great study lead by @fredho42 looked into factors contributing to the association between deprivation and infant death. Targeting moderating factors may mitigate some the effects but will not stem the rise in infant mortality. #heathinequalities
