Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ
Though the times are challenging, may we never lose hope in a better, safer, and more prosperous nation. Together, we rise ๐ณ๐ฌ๐ซก
@adeniyi_owolabi Sadly, this is a mockery of the Legal profession, measures should be taken to condemn this act especially from repeating itself
@afamosigwe@NigBarAssoc
Every Nigerian politician must understand a very simple and unfortunate truth; if insecurity consumes the nation completely, there may eventually be no nation left to govern.
Nigeria is bleeding from worsening insecurity, people are being kidnapped, lives are being lost, fear is everywhere, yet many politicians seem more focused on securing return tickets and 2027 campaigns than fixing the country.
Very disheartening!!
@mrfestusogun@ted_designs001 It is very disheartening to witness times like this. When one can no longer speak freely or demand accountability without fear, democracy itself is in danger. These are clear signs of a system gradually silencing dissent.
There is a deliberate and systemic attack against free speech in Nigeria.
This is not even about libel. It is the desperation to always crush dissent. How can it be justified that a social critic would be arrested and jailed for simply demanding good governance and accountability?
These are the signs you see when democracy is dying.
The way Nigerian politics works is honestly baffling. Someone who performed woefully as a minister, with little or nothing tangible to point to as achievement, is already out campaigning to become a governor and not just campaigning, but doing so with much pride and entitlement.
@mrfestusogun Stories like this saddens me but there's nothing we can do in circumstances like this...
May the soul of the dead rest in peace...
And for the practitioners whose means of livelihood depends on such a dangerous path, May God continue to protect everyone ๐ค
