@merv_inn Unfortunately, that is the only solution. You can't fix the price of what you don't have. You can't buy mtedza at K400/Kg when someone next to you is offering K1000/Kg.

You can't sell mtedza at K400 when someo is selling at K1000. Customers will buy from you and sell at K1000

@a_chitsosa @onjezani What formula is used to have the exchange rate fixed? How can the rate be fixed when prices of all commodities goes up?

People argue that prices of goods will go up if Kwacha is devalued and floated. Which products have not changed in price since 2023 when Kwacha was devalued?

(1) Importing becomes expensive which will encourage local production.
(2) Malawi products will be competive on international market in Dollar prices
(3) Exporters will use the banking system thereby making banks have forex.

@a_chitsosa @onjezani We don't export because when we use the fake K1,734 our products become too expensive. That is why Malawi has become a smugglers heaven. They smuggle out and bring USD in cash to change at black market. No forex goes into the banking sector.
