Cold cases, hard calls, and the decisions that shaped history. You cast the verdict.

@historyinmemes Jung built himself a stone tower at Bollingen with no electricity and no phone, just so he could hear his own thoughts. Individuation apparently starts with unplugging the router

@historyinmemes Hicox got past the accent, the Gestapo major and a basement full of soldiers. Then his own thumb sold him out. Spy school teaches you everythng except how to order a beer

The caller was a woman with a local accent. She said she was a parent from Shinya's kindergarten and asked when the family would be heading home.
Weeks later, a man was seen at a harbor town on the coast carrying a boy who looked like Shinya.
In 2018 a man came forward on TV wondering if he was him. DNA said no.
His father died in 2025, still looking.
My verdict: not an accident. A search that size finds a four-year-old who wandered off. Someone was already watching that house.
What's yours?

How do you even explain a case like this?

March 7, 1989. A mountain village in Tokushima, Japan. Four-year-old Shinya Matsuoka walks home from a morning stroll with his father.
At the door, his dad steps inside to hand the baby to Shinya's mother.
He turns back. Somewhere between 20 and 40 seconds have passed.
Shinya is gone.
Police dogs, firefighters, half the village searched for days. Nothing. Not a shoe.
About a week later, the phone rang.

@Rainmaker1973 Zero fuel, zero noise, and they clock out on their own the moment it starts raining. Best contractors on the payrol

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@Rainmaker1973 Wind shoves sheets of thin ice into each other until they shatter. If you ever find a clip with the sound on, the whole lake sounds like wind chimes

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@FarhanN78265394 @archeohistories Small town math. When you're the only man who can fix everyone's toothache, nobody wants to be the one who runs you out of town

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@UtkarshLuthra Closest guess in the thread, that's almost exactly their model. And you found the real test too: outcome pay only works if "outcome" is hard to game.

A startup in Bengaluru just raised $50M to open 5 new hospitals.

Its doctors don't earn more for doing more procedures.

So how does a hospital make money when its patients stay out of it?

Take a guess before you read the reply.

@NatGeo @DisneyPlus @hulu Orcas are one of the only species besides us that go through menopause. Retire from raising kids, start running the whole family. Very relatible

@Reuters Hours of escorting her out, a net, and she still found her way back. At this point Busan should just give her a name and a parking spot

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@fasc1nate The trailer Ted Weiher was found in had months of food and a propane tank nobody switched on. That detail still bothers me more than the car

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@wonderofscience And it's colorblind. Matching a reef it can't techincally see in color is the best bluff in the ocean

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@MorbidKnowledge Doctors think the near-freezing water slowed everything down enough to buy him that time. And he was back diving within weeks, which is it's own kind of mystery

[daynotlikeus @Keradiusin]

@Rainmaker1973 the lake really said pew pew and chose violence. i'd never step on that ice agian

Members pay a flat fee, and Even runs the insurance and the hospitals together. Every surgery it prevents is money it keeps. Doctors are paid on health outcomes, not procedure counts.

Khosla Ventures led the round. Founders Fund and 8VC joined.

Would you pay a hospital a subscription?
