🚜 INCREDIBLE PROGRESS—AND A NEW LITTLE FRIEND 🐶
Louise visited the new temporary shelter site this afternoon—and the progress completely took her breath away!
Our contractors are working at an astonishing speed. In just over 24 hours, the entire shelter area has been graded and almost all of the concrete has already been poured. After months of uncertainty, fundraising, meetings and changing plans, the new shelter is finally taking shape before our eyes. 🚜💛
Of course, it would not be a War Paws visit without meeting another dog!
Louise spotted this lovely girl watching from a distance. She is quite thin and appears to have received treatment for mange. Although understandably nervous, she eventually found enough courage to approach Louise and discovered that the strange lady visiting her territory gives excellent belly rubs!
When she rolled over, Louise noticed that she still had sutures in her spay incision, although the incision itself appears well healed. She also has a minor eye infection and a rather gunky eye.
Louise will return tomorrow armed with a stitch cutter, medication to clean up and treat her eye—and, of course, plenty of food. 🥣🐾
We do not know her story or who treated and spayed her, but we are glad she trusted Louise enough to show us what help she still needs. Perhaps she already knows that something special is being built on her territory!
We also have some fantastic news: thanks to our incredible War Paws family, we held FIRST PLACE on the My Giving Circle leaderboard and won £3,000! 🎉
Thank you to everyone who voted, donated and shared. You made this possible.
The new round has already begun and runs until 30 December 2026, with £4,000 available to the winning organisation. Please keep voting and donating—let’s see if we can end 2026 with another amazing win! 🗳️💙

Work is progressing quickly, but there is still an enormous amount to build and fund. Please keep helping us transform this land into a safe home for the animals depending on War Paws.

Death sentence is the only thing acceptable for this demon who ran over a puppy and let the car sit on top of the squealing puppy for 15 seconds. Death sentence.
🐾 BLISSFULLY UNAWARE OF THE ORGANISED CHAOS 🐾
While organised chaos unfolds around them, the dogs remain blissfully unaware of just how much is happening behind the scenes.
The entire War Paws team is under enormous pressure to get the new shelter built, ready and safe enough for hundreds of animals to move into as quickly as possible.
There are contractors to coordinate, supplies to source, problems to solve and countless urgent decisions to make. Through it all, our team is bending over backwards to protect the dogs from the stress of what is happening.
Meals are still served on time. Kennels are cleaned, medication is given and familiar routines continue. There is still time for affection, play and reassurance because, as far as the dogs are concerned, every day should feel as normal and safe as possible.
They do not understand construction schedules, fundraising targets or relocation plans. They simply trust the people caring for them—and our team is doing everything possible to ensure that trust is never broken. 💛
Behind these peaceful scenes are exhausted people working relentlessly to secure their future. The move may be our responsibility, but we will do everything we can to prevent it from becoming the dogs’ burden.
The new @MyGivingCircle voting round has now begun and will continue until 30 December 2026, with an incredible £4,000 prize for the winning organisation!
Every free vote, donation and share will help us remain competitive and could bring vital funding to War Paws as we build the new shelter and continue caring for the animals throughout the relocation.
Please cast your free vote today, encourage your friends and family to vote and help us start this new round as strongly as possible. 🗳️🐾

Florida has enacted one of the strongest animal protection laws in the nation. Convicted animal abusers are now permanently banned from adopting or purchasing any pets in the state.
Governor Ron DeSantis signed Dexter’s Law in May 2025, and it took effect on January 1, 2026. The legislation closes a dangerous loophole that previously allowed people convicted of animal cruelty to own pets again after serving their sentences.
The law is named after Dexter, a rescue dog who was tragically killed by his adopter — a case that exposed critical weaknesses in the system. To prevent future tragedies, the law also establishes a statewide registry of convicted animal abusers. Shelters, breeders, pet stores, and even members of the public can now check this database before placing an animal with a potential owner.
Offenders remain on the registry for up to ten years, giving organizations a powerful new tool to screen adopters and protect vulnerable animals.
A day of deep shame and condemnation for Botswana as people swarm to feast on 23 elephants slaughtered to “celebrate 60th anniversary celebrations”.
Botswana has a huge cattle herd—roughly equivalent to the adult human population. They also have an established beef export industry—they don’t need to slaughter elephants for food.
The Botswana Environment and Tourism Minister issued complimentary hunting licenses to 20 administrative precincts.
The licenses also include other wild species such as eland, kudus, South African oryx, impalas and wildebeests.
I hope tourists show their disgust at his decision by boycotting Botswana for at least a year.
What kind of message does it give to poachers when the government sanctions killing elephants for a feast?
There will be mourning in Botswana, but not by the diners.
@StormyWatersOne@CABS_REPORTS There is something mortally wrong with humanity in the delight it has in animal abuse and human slaughter. Civilisation is heading for a fall, as happens through the centuries, before we can rise to something better - initially - but we never learn from history. 😢🤞
🚨 SHOCKING: Online footage today shows Poachers in Arida, #Lebanon using HEAVY MACHINE GUNS to slaughter migratory storks near homes & highways.
Firing military grade weapons at defenseless birds is an outright crime!!!
Authorities MUST enforce the law & stop these massacres.
Every performer’s worst nightmare.
Maria Joao Pires instantly realized she had been practicing the wrong piece.
Despite that, she ended up playing the entire concerto from memory, even though it was from the previous year’s repertoire.
