And it won’t be - we’ve secured new buyers for this iconic Tasmanian brand.

Good evening everyone, an important update from me.

Today, we’ve kicked off the most ambitious plan to slash red tape and regulation in Tasmanian history.

I believe that we can all agree that something needs to happen.

It currently requires 37 licenses to open a cafe in Tasmania- just ridiculous.

So we’ll be stripping back as many licenses as we can get our hands on.

If a Tasmanian is brave enough to open a cafe, a cinema or a corner store, we should be looking for ways to make things easier for them, not harder.

We will require that for every new law and regulation that gets proposed, one gets removed.

And we’ll be setting aside time in Parliament to remove old laws that are outdated and unnecessary.

A comprehensive audit will assess every Government program, and if a program is not delivering with your taxpayer dollars, or isn't a priority for Tasmania, we'll redirect the funds to where they're most needed.

We’ll also be bringing Saul Eslake onboard and working with him to look at our Government-owned businesses and whether their ownership serves us.

Not Hydro of course, but we will take a long look at whether Tasmanians are best served owning a Mainland electricity company or the Motor Accident Insurance Board.

Any funds raised from a changes in ownership will be in invested into a Future Fund so we can pay our debt down, continue building and most importantly:

Not raise taxes for Tasmanians.

That’s what Tasmanians expect- so that’s what we’ll be delivering.

We’re building some truly generational infrastructure in Tasmania right now.

We can’t let red tape get in the way.

So today, I am deploying a six-month exemption from AS4000 arrangements, to ensure the smooth delivery of projects over the coming peak construction season.

Tonight, the last of 42 piers will be poured at the new Bridgewater Bridge 🙏

It’s a major milestone that will mark the completion of the bridge’s substructure and bring us even closer to finishing the biggest transport infrastructure project in Tasmanian history.

A truly incredible job by our construction team on the ground!
