#Whales that prefer #zooplankton over fish have wider nostril spacing, which may better-equip them to sniff-out zooplankton. Read "Morphology of nares associated with stereo-olfaction in baleen whales" - https://t.co/Wz3w5Ya9K6 #BiologyLetters#sensoryecology#chemicalecology

Excited to see our paper published, led by the talented Ingvild Ytterhus Utengen @AkvaplanNiva@UiTNorgesarktis! Here we investigated humpback whale behaviour during their seasonal stopovers and classified their tracks into five distinct movement modes🐋https://t.co/CbXNsAp9eW
A new study on sperm whales off the coast of Ireland has found females and their calves are swimming in higher latitudes than before https://t.co/oFRAAhhYHz
@whale_nerd One female stranded in Donegal in 2022 was raked on the left pectoral, dorsal and tail stock that looked like killers too. They don't seem to be bothered by the killers in the Azores and it seems some of the rakes there on females / youngsters might be caused by their own kin
