@lloy_adam Solving disputes without resorting to forceful resolutions should be the top priority of relevant government officials. Adopting the recommendations of Hedican is an excellent start. See my post about how solidarity protests present another issue for managing original disputes!
One of the policy recommendations put forward by Edward Hedican is to isolate the protest site from additional individuals that may raise tensions. "In other words, the smaller the crowd and more specific the dispute, the more effectively such situations can be managed."
Increasing solidarity protests shared over the internet can have an aggravating effect for the original protesters, and they present another issue to government officials attempting to limit the crowd and relevant dispute to specifics. #plst4000 https://t.co/Qwp3a91Q2J
Bill C-36 endangers sex workers due to the need to conduct sex work in isolated places. Sex workers typically distrust the justice system, and until their work is decriminalized it is unlikely that workers will report violence to the police. https://t.co/Lp2NA6oABE #plst4000

This protest in New York's subways could have been mediated by the NYPD through the use of a social media tension monitoring system, like the one that was developed by William et al., by targeting the hashtag #J31 and other category terms https://t.co/ZDxbUEZLNm #plst4000
