@DaySocialist@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 Except Herzl didn’t coin that phrase (Asher Ginzberg). Early Zionists debated diaspora life in different ways. Arguing that Jews were unsafe as permanent minorities isn’t the same as saying they had no right to belong in the countries they were born in.
@DaySocialist@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 Any hate attacks are wrong, just as attacks on Jews are wrong but pointing to anti Muslim hate doesn’t somehow disprove antisemitism. If the attacker’s ideology or background is relevant to the motive, then yes it can matter. Condemn both without using one to dismiss the other.
@DaySocialist@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 Herzl didn’t say Jews couldn’t belong in their birth countries. He argued they also needed the option of a safe homeland and self determination. Calling that “ethno supremacy” is your spin.
@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 That doesn’t actually answer the point. We’re talking about documented antisemitic attacks in the UK. Pointing to the West Bank doesn’t make those incidents disappear.
@DaySocialist@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 It's the same thing.
Anti Zionist rhetoric is used to justify antisemitism.
I have no skin in the game, so I see this clearly.
Zionism is the belief that they should have a homeland within their ancestral lands and have self determination.
@DaySocialist@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 I get that and appreciate the need to back up what you say but I have limited letters to use in a post (non member). I quick search found multiple incidents of Jews being randomly stabbed, physically attacked, verbally abused, arson attacks, vandalism in the last two years.
@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 Just because you say it isn’t happening doesn’t make it true. There are plenty of documented cases in the UK of Jewish people being assaulted, synagogues targeted and Jewish businesses attacked. Given the level of antisemitism that exists, none of this should be surprising.
@TheRealJamieKay Because you are biased and disingenuous, using language to rage bait and gain financially.
People aren't against the immigration of those that benefit the country. They are against the mass migration of unskilled people from third world dumps.
Nothing to do with race.
@Heccles94 So basically Israel should of just left Hamas alone to continue slaughtering its people and keep their control on Gaza, as a staging post for further attempts to genocide Jews.
@ianrich15813274 Being rescued "on purpose". The only reason they keep coming is because they know the RNLI will pick them up and it's a free ticket to the UK.
If they were a benefit to the UK, they would immigrate to the UK via legal methods with a skill or profession that the UK needs.
@gingerrtom Stop making excuses and changing the narrative to suit your views.
They are undocumented young men from backwards uncivilized societies. For all we know, they are criminals escaping punishment, raped their way across Europe. We have no idea who these people are.
@ChrisFitzMelb@KazzaG45@Heccles94 If you need this explained, you’re choosing not to see it. Jews in the UK are being targeted for looking Jewish. That’s antisemitism. Full stop.
@TheRealJamieKay I think you'll find the majority of Brits understand the benefit of skilled migrants. Immigration was relatively successful when it was in small numbers and they were given time to integrate. However, high numbers of unskilled labour have had irreversible consequences in society
@CaboWaboNick@JThereault@mehdirhasan He is essentially a mouthpiece for Qatari funded interests, including Al Jazeera. Qatar has spent billions on media, lobbying, education and religious institutions across the West, giving it considerable political and ideological influence.
@JinkyMcDink@mehdirhasan I agree, there is no way Zack is a Jew because is he so anti semetic. The old "my opinions are valid because I'm a Jew too" is a well worn tactic to try and bring authenticity to his argument. If only they could just be honest, "I want your vote but I don't like you"
