@annakcher I think these universities regardless of public vs private would rather send a weak signal for everyone (and maybe have students just ride the prestige of the school) as opposed to condemning the bottom 50% of each class to being labeled as mediocre.
@jeremychrysler@cremieuxrecueil I’m all for having people that are talented in dimensions other than SAT level math/reading. The question however then becomes which cellist or linebacker they take out of all the cellists or linebackers in the world. This then leads to the EC arm race.
Due to diminishing returns I imagine there is little difference in effectiveness between a guy who can throw 80 down the middle and a guy who can paint the corners with 92 when you’re pitching against 70 year olds
You're telling me that a professional 1B, who throws ~85 mph flat ground with accuracy, 1) has never pitched in his life, 2) is going to have trouble pitching against a bunch of 70 year olds, 3) is not a major improvement over who would be pitching instead?
