@TheDataCage Sure thing… we saw the largest departure of kids at 13&14… but I guarantee the bat companies, who were part of the discussion were definitely not against it.
When I was 13 years old, I told my dad I wanted to become a Major League Baseball player.
He looked at me and said,
"You can... but we need a plan."
So we sat down and made one.
First, we created the big vision.
Play in the Major Leagues.
Then we worked backwards.
We made a one-year plan.
At the time, I wanted to make a better travel team and play in bigger tournaments.
Then we made a season plan.
Then a monthly plan.
Then a weekly plan.
Then a daily plan.
Some days it was:
- 50 swings to left-center.
- 50 swings up the middle.
- 50 swings to right-center.
Other days it was:
- Dry swings.
- Push-ups.
- Sit-ups.
- Sprints.
- Up-downs.
Every week, we'd sit back down together.
We'd look at the plan.
Keep what was working.
Change what wasn't.
We repeated that process for years.
Eventually...
I played in the Major Leagues.
Because here's one thing I learned from my dad:
Dreams don't become reality because you have a vision.
They become reality because you have a plan.
Most players have goals.
Very few have a system for reaching them.
Thank you for reading,
Jermaine Curtis

@nextlevelbb Shows there are great baseball players outside the SEC… just cause it’s a mid-major doesn’t mean they can’t hang. The gap is shrinking between power-4 and mid-major talent. Gotta love it!
Deiten Lachance: “When [Cord Rager] is on the mound you definitely have a chance to win. No matter who you face, I mean you can put the Yankees in front of me, I don’t mind.”
Skip Johnson: “Easy.”
Question from Kirk Bohls: “Would you beat the Yankees?”
Oklahoma Coach Skip Johnson: “No.”

It’s time for a Gameday show. All the pomp, all the fanfare, all the fun. Want to see a fan wiffle ball home run contest w @bigdonkey47 pitching & talking smack. Preferably against @PatMcAfeeShow to kick things off. Ratings BONANZA! ❤️- a former employee.

NC State head coach @ChrisHart21 has added his first commitment out of the portal from Wright State's @hunter_1200 who was terrific the last two seasons for Wright State. This year he was named first-team All-Horizon after leading the conference in batting (.361) and for the year he hit eight home runs with 41 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. Warren was also a first-team pick in 2025 as well as the Horizon League Freshman of the Year after hitting .328 with a .831 OPS.
Yesterday was WILD.
UCLA, Auburn, Southern Miss, Oregon State, Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Coastal Carolina all took Ls. A couple others like Florida and Texas A&M got pushed right to the edge too.
What stands out:
Baseball is beautiful and the talent is everywhere.
I’m genuinely happy for the kids who fit that Power 5 mold and are cashing in on NIL.
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t smiling a little inside watching teams whose entire NIL budget is less than what one guy makes at the big boys go out there and win.
My take.
What y’all think?
Well well well… I guess real baseball matters again… and it wins. Don’t strike out. Get the ball in play. Hustle, steal bases, throw strikes, compete. Yea, bombs are good… but so are doubles, singles, bunt for hits, moving runners … pressure on defense. Why has it taken this long to figure it out! That’s what pisses me off. Winning Baseball ….. well it wins! At every level.
Wright State 2B Hunter Warren will enter the transfer portal, I'm told. Warren hit .361/.437/.529 with eight homers, 12 doubles and 15 bags as a sophomore in 2026. Strong feel to hit with excellent zone contact. Will play for Cotuit this summer.
Tanner Mally's remarkable season has come to an end for @WMUBaseball. Wire-to-wire in the regular season batting champ (.446). 2nd in D1 in OBP (.554). 5.3% K rate. 47 combined HBPs/BBs compared to just 13 Ks. 19 SB. Name to know for draft in July.
Rick Pitino is right.
Every player’s hourglass runs out faster than they think.
The practices. The games. The grind.
One day… it’s all gone.
Cherish every rep. Every moment. Every opportunity.
Don’t waste your sand. ⏳
