I have learnt of the sudden death of @UgandaCranes and @SCVillaJogoo team captain and Player Mr. David Owori also known as Colgate in the Uganda football circles.
A young talent aged 27 years old, that was from celebrating the 3rd Birth day for his son yesterday.
I am reliably informed that as he headed home after celebrating his son’s birthday, he was attacked at around 8:30 pm by unknown gang of thugs that hit him with a paver.
The attack happened around Kibuye Primary School near Salaama Road in Makindye Division.
He was rushed to Case Hospital Nakasero and immediately put under ICU.
Today at around Midday, was pronounced dead.
It is a dark day for the football world in Uganda.
Like the Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker @Thomas_Tayebwa has guided today when the matter was raised on the floor of @Parliament_Ug, that the Minister of Internal affairs makes sure the relevant authorities make full investigations and the family of the late gets the justice they deserve.
I send my condolences to the family, friends, the @SCVillaJogoo fraternity and all football lovers in Uganda.
May David’s Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
CLUB STATEMENT

Government Rolls Out Online Recruitment for Districts to Curb Corruption and Streamline Hiring.
The Government of Uganda has announced a major shift in the recruitment of staff for district and city local governments, with all future recruitment processes set to transition to an online system. The move is aimed at reducing physical interaction between applicants and recruitment officials, cutting paperwork, improving transparency, and eliminating corruption in public service hiring.
According to the Ministry of Public Service, the new e-recruitment platform will enable job seekers to submit applications electronically, upload academic and professional documents online, and receive notifications digitally throughout the recruitment process. The system is also expected to automate shortlisting and standardize recruitment procedures across all districts and cities.
Government officials say one of the key objectives is to minimize direct contact between applicants and District Service Commission officials, a practice that has for years been linked to bribery, favoritism, document handling challenges, and recruitment irregularities. By digitizing the process, authorities hope to restore public confidence and ensure jobs are awarded based on merit rather than personal influence.
The reform follows longstanding concerns raised by Parliament, oversight institutions, and anti-corruption agencies over widespread allegations of bribery in district recruitment. Previous reports indicated that many job seekers were forced to pay illicit sums to secure public service positions, prompting calls for a technology-driven recruitment system.
The online recruitment initiative is part of the government's broader digital transformation agenda in public administration and is expected to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs associated with paper-based applications, and create a transparent audit trail for every recruitment exercise.
The Ministry says the system will gradually be rolled out across local governments and will become the standard platform for recruiting public servants at district and city levels as Uganda advances its digital governance reforms. Hon minister @JustineNameere and I , we pledge to deliver with support from Public Service and Head of public service .

🚨 OFFICIAL: Real Madrid statement deny any agreement on personal terms with Michael Olise, pointing at relationship with FC Bayern.
“In response to reports in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest from our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage.
Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration, and regrets the spread of speculation that does not correspond to reality.
Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected, among other aspects, in the shared conviction that any potential interest in a player belonging to the other club must be dealt with first between the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically governed the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid”.

Yesterday I visited Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, where a separate unit has been prepared to treat #Ebola patients. I'm glad for the opportunity to meet with health workers in charge and thank them for their dedication. I am very happy with all the work invested in preparedness and readiness that I have witnessed.
I commend the Government of #Uganda for the work being done to control Ebola and provide care for those affected. Uganda’s leadership has been central to the response, and @WHO remains committed to supporting national efforts to stop transmission, save lives and protect communities.
Mwebale nnyo.
Again, thank you @PoliceUg, working with joint intelligence units for tracking down and arresting the notorious boda boda rider who, with others, was filmed hitting Sydney and causing his death. Apparently, he is detained at Kira Road Police.
Now, we demand a speedy trial of the suspects, similar to a public mobile court hearing that tried the murderer of the daycare toddlers in Ggaba. This should be another landmark case in the fight against mob justice.
