@RCampbellmc58 Joe hit one right off some guy’s house. The man happened to be out watering his lawn and after the ball hit his roof we heard him yell, “Dammit, hit the ball straight.” Joe came over to apologize and the guy saw him and almost shit. Lol.
@RCampbellmc58 Ha. I remember you threw a tight spinner. Beautiful release. Claim to fame was covering 49er camp in 1992, I got a chance to play golf with Joe, Steve Young, and Steve Bono in Rocklin. I used to do a morning radio hit with Montana on the old KFOG 104.5 FM.
@RCampbellmc58 Joe Roth was heroic. I always thought he would have had a great pro career. He was not unlike Joe Montana with his demeanor and poise. Side note: Rich I once saw you throwing in the summer of 1980 on the Cal baseball field. I ran pass patterns for you in my work boots. Lol.
I’ll never forget Oct 6th of 1992, b4 Roger Craig’s 1,152nd and final game managing the #SFGiants A handful of reporters were in his office at The Stick, as he regaled us all w/colorful stories from his career, dating back to his days with the Brooklyn Dodgers. What a gem.
@SteveBitker I remember covering a clinic the Giants held at Candlestick. Roger was the newly hired manager and he was in centerfield with a ball and glove. I saw a glove on the field, picked it up, and motioned to Roger to play catch. I gave him a target and never had to move the glove.
