This was absolutely the best case scenario for the Lakers, & for multiple reasons

1. DEN got worse. And they’re still in the 2nd Apron

2. Kuminga to the Cavs is dead

3. LAC had the best asset for ATL if they wanted Kuminga. ATL doesn’t want players but they would have been happy to get the Clippers 17m trade exception for JK & Kuminga could have gotten close to the money he wanted. Instead LAC used that on Strus & ended their wing search

4. The East continues to get better. This will probably be the best East standings race in years.

5. Lakers are in prime position for Kuminga. Wolves & maybe Bucks are threats too, but I have to believe the lakers are in the drivers seat.

And btw, the Cavs got the best player they were after this offszn. Missing out on LeBron was a blessing in disguise for CLE. Watson fits so much better & undeniably makes their future better.
