I just released an all-in-one tool that lets you extract textures from any perspective, turn them into seamless textures, and use them on your 3D models.

here's a monitor breakdown from @mattreevesLA behind the scenes shots.
this should help you better understand what's going on next time you see a field monitor like this.
I built the post-production pipeline for DEADPOOL. A workflow for seven editors, assistants and VFX cutters. Before the creative work begins, a properly set-up project is critical. 9 months of post and our only major issue was that 10 Mac Pro trash cans overheated and died.

My four takeaways from the Blender Conference🇳🇱
1. It's the End of an Era
Ton Roosendaal (founder and CEO of Blender) will step down on Jan 2nd, but remain in a supervisory role on the board. In his place, Francesco Siddi (the current COO) will assume the title of CEO. It was sad to see his last ever keynote (https://t.co/UXgBXGllQW), but it's a mature decision to do it now while he has plenty of time to mentor the new leadership. To anyone worried about the future of Blender, Francesco has already been acting in the role since the start of the year. He’s diligent, organized, and a fierce defender of open source. I think Blender is in good hands.
2. A new initiative will make Blender easier to use
For years, Blender has pushed some creative people away by being too technical. Even simple tasks like creating a Vignette in the compositor, require learning math and connecting nodes.
Which is why the most exciting development I saw at the conference was a new “Asset” shelf coming to various areas in Blender 5.0. Beginners opening the compositor will be greeted with a library of simple, one-click FX like "Vignette," "Chromatic Aberration," and "Grain” (video: https://t.co/QM0J0sxBzV). In Geometry nodes, you’ll find one click functions like Arrays and Scattering (so my next donut tutorial will be 1 hour shorter!). The plan is to extend this to other sections of Blender, including materials and models.
And once the community can contribute through the Extensions site (planned sometime after the release of 5.0), the possibilities will grow exponentially. Imagine needing rain for a scene: and instead of searching for a tutorial, or paying for an addon, you just search the extension library, drag one in, and you’re done. This could open Blender up to a new demographic in the same way that Roblox did for game development. Exciting times.
3. Blender is seeing increased usage in Hollywood
This year there were four talks showcasing how Blender was used in big-budget productions:
- Previz, Postviz and Finals for Sonic 3 https://t.co/7eVIOfxDoT
- The Production of ‘How Zeke Got Religion’ (episode from Love, Death and Robots) https://t.co/afPAjivZIB
- VizDev on How to train your Dragon https://t.co/vPEQLlexG3
- The whole production of Flow https://t.co/y0QrTJRTas
Some quotes that deserve to be featured on the Blender website:
“I’ve never worked with a renderer that hasn’t had a frame fail for me. So not only is [Cycles] stable, it looks great, it’s less noisy than other renderers, but it’s also super-fast. Cycles rocks.”
-Joel Prager, Paramount.
“Blender offers great modelling tools, great rigging tools, rendering is super-fast. Sometimes we have a client sitting next to us and we can put it in render mode, change the poses, do sculpting updates - for them it’s mind blowing.”
-Juan Francisco Hernández Mendoza, Framestore
4. Don’t overthink it. “Be messy” https://t.co/aOATYoc0Kf
When I saw that Jess Wiseman completed this Samsung advert (https://t.co/WQeZZlV75K) in just over a week - knowing it would probably take me months - I felt like such an imposter. This is a talk that every artist should watch, but especially veterans like me who feel a compulsive need to do things “the right way”. In this talk, Jess shared how she takes shortcuts, when to do it the right way, and why speed is an essential component for creativity. She was my favourite speaker from this year and last year.
