@calthrina950 Abbott will also win handily because despite all the culture war stuff, he's known for keeping the state economy running well and keeping things cheap. Terrible person but decent administrator.
@calthrina950 Nah man, the culture war stuff isn't going to work when gas is hovering around $4 a gallon and stuff is getting more expensive. Indies hated Biden because he made things more expensive and they hate Trump for the same reason.
@KellyScaletta Drove through rural TX, have not seen a single Paxton sign yet. In suburban TX (Cedar Park), it's a mix of John Carter (the incumbent R House Rep) and Talarico signs.
@Calebej37 I know a few potential Abbott - Talarico voters. They hate Trump but they like economic direction Texas is taking. It's still pretty affordable here and job market is decent and people may not want to rock the boat on that.
@AndrewJ132@AstorAaron This is a bad long term move by the GOP. The new maps are good until 2030, and pissing off black voters guarantees Ds take the governor mansion and supreme court races in 2028 which guarantee a massive Dem pickup after 2028.
@spicy1812@roon0292@Wellstonecratt PASC is too risky. New York is the obvious big fish left to fry. Courts there have moved left and I'm sure a new constitutional amendement would pass there for 2028.
@mafia2198@cobb_dem@walkeri141 You can see what parties endorse which judges and how the judges have ruled in the past. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to see which parties these judges lean towards even if it's a non-partisan race on paper.
