@NewWestJP @NewWestSarah This also shows just how little some* trustees cared about the impact of the daycare evictions on their communities. What a farce.
*Now seems like a good time to recognize that we have some empathetic, respectful and well-intentioned ones, too.
@AlfromNW @NewWestJP Or some sympathy for future downtown residents who just lost 72 potential spots for their kids. There isn't a good option here but the process has been horrendous. But do some research before writing because we're not talking 15-minute bus rides.
@NewWestJP @riarenouf Even today's letter... I wish @newwestschools would stop trying to frame this as a mutual decision. Be honest and transparent, and own the decision you're making. That would be a big step in starting to regain trust.
@NewWestJP @riarenouf I'm going to be pretty sad if any of our daycare's amazing staff leave because their new location is harder to get to via transit.
@NewWestJP @riarenouf Yeah, I mean its letter to the board in Tuesday's meeting package was essentially reciting facts like a memo of understanding. This is a massive disruption to LMPS and staff and I wish it was handled with more honesty and sympathy in that respect.
@riarenouf @juliemaclellan thanks for reporting out from the @newwestschools meeting tonight and probably staying up late to file your stories (for the second night in a row?)!
@riarenouf Honestly, did LMPS have a choice? It's bugged me at times how things are framed like it's up to LMPS. It's essentially being evicted then given 2 options & an unrealistic timeline to find others. I think the board is doing its job here but its process & comms have been horrendous
@NewWestJP @DeeBeattieNW @TheRecord Making your meeting less accessible so that you hear from fewer citizens who are critical of your decision-making and broken commitments. Got it.
