Strategic Technology CIO / CISO - Thoughts on innovation, InfoSec, business, leadership, tech, brewing & life in general. Life's short - help others & have fun!
Excellent diagnostic by @lennyzeltser on managing business risk and making Information Security the “How” group not the “No” group. As CISO’s move further into a world where they are at risk of being fired, arrested, or financially responsible, balancing risk / reward gets harder
The CISO's job isn't to maximize security, but to calibrate the right amount of insecurity. Frame it that way and we go from obstacle to enabler. https://t.co/bdGAr0Tsg7
@AllenKessler@SouthwestAir It almost seems like malicious compliance, like someone in the chain of command said "you want to break the system, here, hold my beer!" There is no way that the totality of the changes could be created by person(s) who wanted to save the company.
@AmericanAir when I booked a new flight you said my bag would be moved to my new flight. Unfortunately it was loaded on a plane to FLL not MIA. How can you help me be ready for my presentation at 9:00am tomorrow morning?
I don’t get to MIA until after 9pm. Baggage in FLL closes at 5:30 pm and does not open till 9:00 am. What can you do to help? Ps your bag form is not mobile friendly.
Oh my goodness this is so true. Who needs to subvert an AI when you can just look under the keyboard or in the “don’t look” folder on the IT server drive.
@AmericanAir need some help here. With all the cancellations and weather re-routing, it looks like my bags went to FLL and I am going to MIA. How do I get reconnected to my luggage?
This is so true. Every day I talk with "sysadmins" that think everything is new in the cloud. Even if the bits are new, the operating philosophy was set decades ago. Get under the GUI, behind the web page, understand what you are dealing with. Nice post @IAMERICAbooted
If you want to learn more about how M365 works under the hood, read the old technical specifications for on-prem including Exchange and SCCM.
Its all the same stuff under the hood with ABAC implementation and divided out into microservices :p

If I have any advice for senior employees: The most privileged thing in the entire world you can possibly do is train junior employees and help them find opportunities to learn
As you move up, your plate gets more full, less time to help juniors grow. You have to fight for it.
