Police arrested a primary school teacher in Buikwe for allegedly forging documents to make it appear that he had died in an attempt to have his outstanding bank loan cancelled.

According to information available, the teacher allegedly submitted the fake death documents to the bank, prompting the institution to sympathise with his family and write off the loan.

The unusual case came to light four years later when the teacher reportedly returned to the same bank to apply for another loan.

The bank’s system flagged his application after indicating that he was already registered as deceased.

Police has confirmed the arrest and expected to provide more information as investigations continue.
